Position Description 

Project Manager/Estimator 

 

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for all aspects of service projects with direct responsibility for project estimation and execution while leading a team to accomplish specific objectives in a given time frame with available resources.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Follow safety guidelines and policies in support of the company safety program.
  • Responsible for staying current on code changes as they relate to the industry.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals and other available documentation to prepare accurate time, material and labor cost estimates; establish schedules and project parameters and set procedures to accomplish system objectives.
  • Examine and review contracts and estimates for accuracy, address discrepancies.
  • Read general conditions, determine alternates, allowances and permit fees.
  • Read specifications, review drawings and submit pre-bid questions to the attention of the architect/engineer.
  • Compile take-off summaries, enter in operating system.
  • Input pricing information updates and assure the accuracy of all rough material prices.
  • Create and revise project schedules.
  • Create customer proposals.
  • Meet with contractors and owners to discuss scope of project, budget, progress and close out.
  • Receive and qualify subcontractor proposals and supervise work of assigned staff.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the forecasted cost and profitability by monitoring and controlling expenses.
  • Oversee equipment, materials, subcontractor and vendor orders; record receipts and approve payment.
  • Complete change orders, recommend solutions, facilitate quotes and close orders.
  • Mange project cash flow, bill preparation; assist with collections and resource management.
  • Responsible for timely completion of assigned projects and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained for all projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical / plumbing piping & duct systems and equipment in heavy commercial, industrial, and institutional construction
  • Experience with installation of piping systems and/or duct systems is preferred
  • Experience and knowledge in contracting processes associated with the installation of mechanical projects and managing subcontractors
  • Prompt and regular attendance
  • Work on a team and interact with people
  • Work a flexible schedule, overtime as required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers
  • Read, analyze, and interpret requests for proposals, service bulletins, technical procedure manuals and equipment specifications
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy
